“Books Made in the UAE” Workshop
Presented by author Samar Mahfouz Barraj

This is an interactive workshop that includes a variety of practical oral and written exercises in a positive and engaging environment that encourages participation.

Main Objective of the Workshop

Each participant will work on writing a children's story centered around the theme of family, using a style appropriate for the chosen age group, even if it is their first experience with writing.

The workshop does not focus on learning language rules or grammar. Instead, it helps participants transform a memory, a simple life experience, or an imagined event into a story that children can understand, relate to, and enjoy.

By the End of the Workshop, Participants Will Be Able To:

  • Understand the key elements of a children's story, including characters, plot, conflict or problem, resolution, and ending.

  • Use simple, age-appropriate language suitable for children at different developmental stages.

  • Transform a real or fictional family-related situation into a story that reflects children's interests and developmental characteristics.

  • Participate in discussions about their writing, while giving and receiving constructive feedback that contributes to the development and improvement of their stories.

  • Produce a first draft of a children's story that is either complete or ready for further development and refinement.
