Every year on April 2nd, which coincides with Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, the International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is joyously celebrated worldwide. This special day is dedicated to kindling a love for reading and drawing attention to the significance of children's books. Each year, a different national section of IBBY has the privilege to be selected as the international sponsor for ICBD. This section decides on a theme and extends an invitation to a distinguished author from the host country to craft a heartfelt message for children across the globe. Simultaneously, a renowned illustrator is commissioned to design a captivating poster. In the UAE, the UAEBBY enthusiastically celebrates ICBD by harmonising an extensive publicity campaign. Throughout the month of April, engaging reading and storytelling activities are organised for children. Additionally, several bookshops across the country participate by offering enticing discounts and promotions on children's books.
