The UAEBBY's "Guest of Honour" initiative, which began in 2015, strives to foster new connections with various IBBY sections, providing an opportunity for local talent to gain insights from international experts, all while promoting a culture of reading within the diverse communities of the UAE.
The United Arab Emirates is renowned for its multicultural composition, and this initiative seeks to embrace and reflect this rich diversity. During the annual Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, UAEBBY extends a warm welcome to a different IBBY section each year. As part of their visit, these esteemed guests are granted their dedicated section within UAEBBY's stand. Here, they have the chance to showcase their work, engage in readings, conduct workshops, and participate in various interactive activities. The visiting delegation typically comprises an author, an illustrator, and a representative from the respective IBBY section, enriching the festival with their international perspectives and experiences.
